Trailer Park Chic

I am totally smitten with the Malibu beach trailer of Liberty Ross.  It has the perfect balance of anything I’d want in a seaside home; happy & bright, boho & colorful, casual yet well edited.  A rattan bed, patterned pillows, driftwood coffee table, sheepskin rug and my sweet baby tolix chairs… does it get any better than this?  Oh yea, its Malibu beach front.  Who needs a mansion when you can slum it like this?

PS- I’m officially obsessed with the name Liberty.

colorful tolix chairs at Grandin Road

You can snag a pair of colorful tolix chairs from Grandin Road for $189.  Not too shabby.  They don’t have my favorite, gunmetal, but they do offer them in blue, green, red, yellow and apricot.  If it were me, I’d probably buy them and spray them an even more fun color- like Peach or Mint!  Go ahead, add a little French cafe charm to your home for less than $100 per chair.

because my love won’t die

One word- TOLIX- and I melt like buttah.  I find the original gunmetal versions to be perfection, but these colored ones are quite charming in their own way.    How do you prefer your tolix, colorful or original?

a tolix quickie

I realized its been quite a while since I’ve paid homage to my favorite dining chair, the tolix chair.  Now that I have some tulips in my home, it will probably quite awhile until tolix and I cohabitate.  For now, I continue to lust from afar.

Tolix Chair knock-off

Home Decorators has knocked off the Tolix Chair.

They call it the Garden side chair, and are selling it for $99.
What do we think?  Cheap substitute for the Marais A chair?  The Marais A is crafted of sheet steel, while the Garden chair is brushed aluminum.

Or good option for someone on a budget?
The “garden chair” in a dining room setting.
 I thought they looked a little stout next to the “real” chairs, but they are actually the same dimension.
One more view to analyze….
I don’t know if I’m sold.  But it sure is tempting to get close to the look and save some serious dough.  (6 chairs, $150 less, you do the math.)
I like them better than Crate and Barrel’s option.  But at least it seems CB was doing their own interpretation, and not a blatant copy.
