Kitchen – Gladwyne, PA

Appliances were the driving force for the design of this kitchen.  The space features a large commercial range, 48-inch Sub Zero refrigerator, two sinks, two dishwashers, beverage cooler, trash compactor and a warming drawer.  Because of the space requirements for these appliances the cabinetry had to be very efficient.  Every cabinet offers specialized storage.  The island conceals three of the appliances and is finished with a reclaimed chestnut countertop.  The turned legs of the island ground the island and ties it in to other architectural elements of the home.  With no space for a traditional pantry, a narrow depth bank of armoires were built by Christiana Cabinetry.  The black cabinets were oversaned, given bunn feet, wire mesh doors with pleated fabric behind to create the feel of old cupboards.
