Guys I’m HUR-TIN. As I mentioned, I pulled my back out this weekend and now a heating pad is my best friend. I’m so frustrated! There is so much I want to do- both with the bedroom and with the rest of the house. But instead I’m stuck on the sofa.
I refuse to miss my deadline, so I did work on a little somthin somthin. I was originally going to buy these structural modern lamps for my nightstands. But then I got cheap and didn’t want to spend any more money. I just poured a ton into my home renovation and I have a lot of rooms to go. I already had these foo dog lamps but they were so off-white they were basically beige. That wouldn’t have worked with my bedding or curtains, so I sprayed them crisp white. (A good primer was key for this project!)
I dig what the foo dog lamps add to the room. Just a little more boho to my preppy bohemian equation. They are so funky and fun. I love Chinoserie elements!
Oh hey did you notice my headboard? You didn’t think I was leaving my bed that simple white rectangle did you? PSSSSHAAWWWW.
Yup, with huge help from my father, sister and mother, I tackled a monster DIY headboard project.
Mid-Makeover: 3″ foam attached to curved plywood attached to my Ikea bed.
(Full breakdown is forthcoming)
What fabric will I use? What will the finished room look like? Can I actually pull this all off without falling apart in more ways then one? You’ll have to tune in next week to the dramatic conclusion of this One Room Challenge.
How are my challenge-mates fairing in their decorating sagas? Check their links to find out.

keep that heatpad warmed up, there’s nothing that helps more than heating up those tired acheing muscles1
I am thinking you will go maybe Chinoiserie fabric as well for the headboard ( Shumacher ? ) or maybe a Nina Campbell fabricas you loved her wallpaper design so much in your old loft with the flowers and birds.Would be pretty cool!
Bea- you know me so well! I almost used the Nina Campbell paper again as art on either side of the bed, but these lamps are too high and it didn’t make sense. The colors are perfect, though.
I am sorry your back is out. My excuse was my dog was really ill on the weekend and we thought that it was the end. Well Monday he is back to normal. Weird…. so I really need to kick it into high gear this week!
I love the shape of your headboard! And I am dying to know the dramatic conclusion!
Sorry about your back! I am just getting over a back injury myself so I feel your pain (literally!) This is a great little addition to your room. I always like to use things I have while I save up or look for the right item. It saves money for when the right item comes along!
Can’t argue with Foo – they are awesome!! Hang in there!!
The foo dogs are amazing!! Love, love!!
Ouch….I can sympathize with you on that. Those lamps are fabu for real!!! And who knew you were going to change out that headboard…..you always have tricks!
I love the white of the headboard with those dark walls. Why not pop it with nail heads that match the hardware on the dresser or how about a changeable slipcover for the headboard. I am in love with the room so far. Take care of your back.
Love the lamps! Perfect.

You can’t just drop a bombshell in the form of that headboard and leave it like that…seriously. And damn, Land of Nod has some pretty awesome lamps, huh?
Fantastic light, where you can buy this item?
The lamps are by Barbara Cosgrove.
