Dudes, this One Room Challenge is no joke. 6 weeks to do a complete room makeover is very short when you are a perfectionist with teeny tiny budget. It’s not just the designing, sourcing, DIYing for the room, but the shooting, editing, preparing the posts and then following along with the 19 other bloggers. I’m seriously ready for another vacation. I hope you guys are enjoying this! My goal is to inspire and show you how to put a room together that’s colorful, layered and cohesive. Also, I’d just like to have a finished bedroom.
Week 4 marked an exciting step in the decorating process; I slept in the room for the first time on Monday night!! I can’t tell you how excited I was to crawl into bed. Of course this week makes sense to share my bedding. I absolutely love my scheme. White bedding with a pop magenta ties in perfectly with my curtains. (These are the only two pops of pink I will have in the room and I think it’s just enough.) My beautiful Chinois Fret pillows in mint are my unexpected foil against the teal walls. You didn’t know teal, mint, magenta, black and white went together? Well now you do. And the eclectic cherry on top is my favorite little goddesses pillow.

The bedding is the berry border frame duvet and gobi embroidered sheet set by Serena and Lily. I love the simple classic detailing. This bedding is popular because its the perfect neutral backdrop that can be styled so many different ways.

PS- if it looks a little wrinkled, its because I literally got out of bed and took pictures.
This is real life, folks.
I opted not to used the matching pillow shams because that would have been too boring for my liking. I love how Caitlin Wilson’s Deco Pillow plays off the tailored look of the duvet and sheets. These pillows are fabulous. You know my penchant for grosgrain trim and greek key detailing so these were the perfect fit for me. They are so easy to mix with other patterns- like my Goddesses pillow.

The Deco pillows also come in 6 gorgeous colors like coral, navy, berry and greige. I was THIS close to choosing the mustard ones for my bed, but just felt the mint was a better fit. They are priced really well too! Pick up a set for yourself HERE.
Since I went so bold with my dark teal walls (Benajmin Moore Naples Blue) I made purposeful white design elements throughout the room to brighten things up and keep the space feeling crisp. Can I mention again how I adore the tie in between my bedding and curtains? Let me tell you, a little magenta goes a long way.

Black is the other accent color in my bedroom and I am using it sparingly. I like how my front lumbar pillow (a Jim Thompson fabric, sewn by me) ties into the black nightstands. I’m also trying to be very selective with my gold accents. I Love me some gold, but it kinda drives me crazy how trendy gold and brass are these days. I think just a little makes a bigger, more sophisticated impact.

And that my friends is week 4! What do you think?? I apologize for the delay in getting this post up. My stupid site was down all morning.

Hah, Linda, I can do basic sewing. Just not the complex stuff. (Plus I did this pillow last year during my big push to finish up my loft for Design Sponge.)

What you put together is perfect for your room — looks amazing! I love the Serena and Lily duvet cover. My daughter has the same but with navy trim. The goddess pillow is to die for incredible!
Always a fan of unique color combos. Love the mint. Are you taking your own photos? Mad photo skills. Love the first three shots!
I love your Serena and Lily bed linens!!! And your bedside chest. WELCOME HOME!
The color combo is not what I expected, it’s better! I love different. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!
I love it so far which doesn’t surprise me!
Love your layers against the blue colour of the wall. Gorgeous!
Love the colors you’re layering on! Never would have thought to use that mint green but it looks amazing!
how do you like your bedding? i have been looking at getting either that color or the navy. i love having white bedding, especially since one day the plan is to paint my room navy.
Michelle, I like the bedding, but honestly I may move it to my guest room at some point. I’m prone to eating chocolate in bed, so I’m a little messy for all white. Other than that, I love it.
