My Guest Room- All the Sources and Details

As promised, here are all the deets on the guest room.

WALL COLOR:  Benjamin Moore’s “Sunlit Coral” (2170-60.)

Headboard: Snagged at an Urban Outfitters sample sale

Curtains:  Ikea with greek key ribbon trim applied to them.  See THIS POST

Euro Shams: Pottery Barn

Blue velvet pillow:  Fabric found at Material Culture, sewn by Me.

Batik-Dyed Bedspread:  Flea Market Find

End Table: Thrift Store

Roll up wood blinds are from Lowes.

Bedspread is from Overstock.  (Purchased years ago.)

The Elephant Table was a great find in Lambertville NJ

I probably wont keep it here because its such a great table and it gets a little lost over here.

I’d like to find something a little taller and less wide.

Here’s the detail of the table base.  Let’s just pretend like those ugly wires aren’t there, ok?

The bed skirt was picked up at an Urban Outfitters sample sale.

A note about UO Sample sales… You have to have a friend who works at the company (my sister designs all the prettiest dresses for Free People.)  If you go you have to be prepared to run and grab stuff like a crazy person.  It’s like Supermarket sweep only you are competing against fashionable and fit hipsters.  When I grabbed this bed skirt I didn’t know if it was for a single or a queen or how I would use it.  I just knew I liked it and it was like 10 bucks.  As it turns out, it fits my bed and goes with the decor.  Score.

The lamp is THIS ONE from Lamps Plus.

I didn’t like the color so I spray painted it gold.

The tray is from Home Goods.

The painting was found in my Nana’s basement.

I just love it in here!!

Usually I say that art doesn’t have to match your decor, but since mine is on the busier side, I like that it picks up my colors.

The plug-in pendant light is the Baltimore fixture customized with an Aurene Teardrop glass shade by Rejuvenation.

The gold bamboo mirror is vintage.  I also found it in Lambertville.

(Sorry, I know a lot of you want a source for that one!)

The carved wood table was found a Philadelphia estate shop.

The chair was a craigslist find that I refinished (poorly) with gold paint.

I’m planning to redo them someday, but for now, it works in here.

The black chevron fabric was also picked up at Material Culture and also sewed by me.

The top print is from John Murphy.

The bottom print is from Cozamia.

Both frames are thrift store finds.  I always hunt down frames when thrifting.

My masterpiece photography, “Bailey, the pug,” was taken with my DSLR camera and blown up at Kinkos.

The frame is Ikea.

The Buddha is from Home Goods.

The orchid is from Trader Joes.

The candle can be purchased here.  It is pretty and smells delicious.

(I’m super picky when it comes to candles and only like light scents.)

And that, my friends, is the room.  I hope you enjoyed!

I love following your blog but even more now that I see your incorporation of African art! My grandmother has always loved African art and I’ve learned to appreciate it more as an adult. Especially when I see it so tastefully and creatively used as yours. Keep up the fabulous work!

  2. I love the paint colour, the light from the window only enhances the hue!
    Wonderful choice!

  3. You did an AWESOME job with this. That head board is a score!! Urban Outfitter has sample sales? Where! I also love the lamp and the elephant table. And you really out did yourself with the chair nook.

Thanks!! I’m happy with the space. Not so happy with the pictures as I had to shoot it really quickly on Friday… but maybe I’ll get those pro shots someday.
