Just a Peek at the Shower Curtain

Please forgive the corny nature of this post, but when the guys hung up Girly Glam’s shower curtain yesterday, I had a little “moment”.  Learning this design industry, running a small business, trying to do something different and special… sometimes it can all feel SO HARD.  I feel I’ve been trying to prove myself forever and get clients who want to work with us for MY designs and not just my father’s expert craftsmanship.  Will I jinx myself if I say that’s finally happening?  I just feel grateful today.

You know what else is happening today?  A new client meeting and then an install of a family room!  I love installs- seeing the design come together and room be transformed is so flippin exciting.

I am so so so proud of this home we are installing today.  We’ve done the foyer, living room, dining room, powder room and now today it’s the family room.  I’ve been totally holding out on you guys- for over a year- but I’m super excited to finally reveal it.  If you liked my loft, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

And I’m off!  Happy Hump Day…

YAY for your very well-deserved feeling of validation. You should be proud of what you’ve accomplished and what you will continue to do. It sounds like you have very smart clients–smart because they recognize your talent. Yay for Naomi!

  2. I love what you said. The more clients give you the freedom to stretch….the better you get at it. When they keep saying no……you have a tendency not to do your best work….staying inside that box! Can’t wait to see your new project.

  3. It doesn’t sound corny at all. It a huge challenge to prove yourself sometimes, and you have most definitely done it. First of all that girly glam bathroom is absolutely gorgeous. So outrageously amazing. And I am dying to see this new house you speak of!

  8. Things are usually rocky on the way up…And I tend to think that the hardest part of proving ourselves to others is actually more about ourselves. Just try to stay out of your own head – You’re so incredibly talented, lady!! ox

funny, I was just thinking yesterday as I was dreaming about our up-coming renovation that I REALLY wish you (and therefore your business and dad; but mainly you) lived in my area because we would totally use you to design and implement our kitchen & bath renovations!! When we take down a wall (WHEN) the kitchen, dining room and living room of our 101 year old cottage will all be open to each other, and I am struggling with a vision for it to all come together!!

  18. Congratulations, Naomi! I so understand where you are coming from – and all of your hard work is paying off!! I cannot wait for the full reveal!!

  19. You should be proud and we are proud of you! This stuff takes guts and perseverance and you did it! Looks so good, I can’t wait to do this in my bathroom!

  20. Love this post!! I’m feel you sister and i’m much newer to the game than you and frustrating discouraging and daunting all come to my head several times a week. But your shower curtain is adorbs and it makes it all worth it. Your clients are very very very lucky!!

  21. Soooo happy for you Naomi. I know the feeling. You are so talented and genuine and hard-working– no one deserves it more. I think this will lead to many many more clients with the same frame of mind!

  22. That shower curtain is hella tight. I LOVED your loft so I am ready to have my mind blown!

  23. Mostly I’ve just been in a state of frustration.

Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re great at what you do and you’re only going to continue to get better.
