Japanese Pottery

I picked up some beautiful Japanese pottery at Material Culture this weekend.  I’m just loving the shapes, color and design of these pieces. Wish they could stay with me, but they are headed to a client’s house.

I just love accessories shopping!  I’ve been picking up such great pieces.  Some vintage, some new, some a little pricey, and most pretty darn cheap.  Can’t wait to share with you guys.
While the pottery can’t stay, I am going to hold onto the Thai silk below them.  Also a find at Material Culture.
And while I’m on the topic of Japanese beauty…. I can’t NOT mention the tragedy going on in Japan right now.  Have you done anything to help?  I’ve donated to Red Cross, but I’m still feeling so helpless watching it all.  I’m thinking about buying a little something pretty that benefits Japan as well.  I saw these two items on Elements of Style and Head Over Heels, respectively….
proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders
proceeds go to Salvation Army’s relief efforts in Japan
Maybe beauty can help save the world?
  1. The pottery is beautiful- what’s happening in Japan is just so horrific- my heart breaks for the people there. I’ve purchased 5 of those t-shirts and figure every little bit helps but it’s hard not to feel helpless- so much devistation. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for linking to the shirt Naomi. I really do believe every little bit helps. Even when the tragedy is so great. The dire situation in Japan is almost unbearable to watch and I imagine, on the ground, it is beyond realm of reason or explanation.

  4. Material Culture is one of my faaavorite stores in Philadelphia, and it’s right in my neck of the woods. For the longest time I’ve been meaning to do a blog post about it, but have yet to do so. I’m glad to see others venturing out to the store. Great finds! And thanks for sharing about the Japan relief efforts.

  6. Gorgeous pottery, love the colours.

And that shirt is great, going to check it out. Such a needy cause. Just unbelievable.

  7. Sweet thoughts from a sweet person. Love the pottery and the shirt.

    Sigh.

  8. I know! I too love shopping for accessories. That’s my favorite part.

I’ve donated as well, but more needs to be done. I have water to drink and fresh food to eat. Makes me feel guilty.

  9. Beautiful pottery! I feel horrible for the people in Japan.

  10. The tragedy in Japan is just too much to process at times. I’ve donated and blogged but wish I was able to do more.
