Oh how I love the foyer. It really sets the tone for the whole home, right? When I first came into Client W’s foyer it wasn’t the most welcoming space. The bumpy plaster walls were an unfortunate yellow, a wallpaper border was dating the room and paint sampling had proven unsuccessful.
My clients were down to make a statement, so I suggested tone on tone stripes. We contemplated wallpaper, but with two active boys we decided paint was a more practical route. We went for a taupey- grayish beige. First we had to skim coat the walls to even out the bumpy plaster. Once the stripes went up the room felt so different!
We filled the room with a mix of high and low. The console is from Ballard Designs whereas the rug is stunning antique. The mirror was a steal from Pier 1. The horsey lamps may be my fave.
Next we addressed the radiator and the left side of the room. We built a narrow counter that serves as the “drop zone” and mail center. Above the counter is a collection of black and white family photos.
(See the dining room? I’ll be sharing that next week.)
A little more of that rug. I’m such a sucker for pink and blue!

Beautiful transformation!!
Loving that mirror! I reminds me of the one in the first foyer featured in the domino book! Great find and a great result overall!
Can I ask where you find all your gorgeous vintage rugs?
Hey Alex- I’ve gotten all of mine off Ebay. This one came from Double Knot. They are on 1stDibs.

I love it all! I adore stripes and pink and blue so this is so me. Fantastic job!
What a transformation! Seriously, beautiful. Where did you snag the horsey lamps? They may be my fave too. I contemplated getting one of those mirrors at Pier 1 a while back and hate that I hesitated – think they’re gone now.
Kudos, lady!
You are seriously amazing. This is beautiful! Love those horse lamps!
It’s so, so lovely, Naomi. The stripes are inspired and the rug, phenomenal! I officially crown you the “rug whisperer.” Brilliant!
I believe you had a horizontal v vertical stripe post a while back, and though normally I’m a horizontal girl, you’ve convinced me: the stripes are perfection! With the arch? Yowzers. Good stuff. Loving the interplay between the rounded elements with the linear, the neutral with the bold, the classic with the fresh. It’s all quite delicious. Nice work.
Fantastic! Great high-low blend. You are on fire recently with the Ebay rug finds, sister.
Love this! I love striped walls in entryways. My house doesn’t allow for this, but I hope someday I can put stripes on a wall! Great work!
I’m a sucker for anything pink and blue as well. This looks great!
You are a freaking magician! What a transformation.
The striped walls, the peacock mirror, the horsey lamps, the malachite box,and the antique rug: I love it all, including the malachite green reflected in the bottom three circles on the mirror. A splendid detail and great photos!
Oh my goodness. LOVE this. I too would love to know where you got that rug — gorgeous!
That looks gorgeous!! I would never have thought stripes for an entry way but I love it

Delicious, scrumptious, finger licking good. The colors in the rug bring so much pizzaz. The horsey lamps are my favorite too. Oh how I wish we could accessories shop together.
Naomi, the striped walls are great. Mind telling me what paint colors you used and the width of the stripes. Thx
