Cottage Update: Dining Room So Far

I’m going to blame my lack of blogging on this totally delicious weather we’ve been having in Philadelphia.  Seriously, the fact that I’m sitting at a computer right now is a true crime.  Here’s hoping I’m really efficient with  my design work for today and get myself in the sun as early as possible.  We have SO many fun projects going on right now  and there is SO much I want to blog about, but I just can’t manage to sit down and spend computer time organizing it all.  Sorry if I sound like a broken record…Spring Fever, I tell you.

Anyway, here are a few snaps of what my dining area is looking like right now… (not at all finished!)

I’m using my Docksta table for now, but it will eventually be replaced by a leggy wood table from my mother.

(It’s being refinished right now.)

design manifest black bamboo rattan chairs

The chairs are two different sets of vintage bamboo and rattan chairs.

I love a good mix and match!

The set on the left were a great score and  just needs to be reupholstered.

The set on the right need a better paint job as I tried out a few colors before settling on black.

Eventually they will both have the same fabric seat cushions.

You can see the remains of bubblegum pink from my previous paint job.  Time to get some more spray paint.

Those of you who follow me on instagram or facebook may have seen that I changed out the chandelier this week.

I debated for awhile between a few (see here) and I am SO happy with the results.

I haven’t snapped them proper yet, but you can spy my choice on DM’s facebook page.

That’s all for now.  Have a great weekend!

  2. Everything looks fab! And I did see the new chandy on Facebook this week… looks fab! Go enjoy some fun in the sun for me! I’m stuck indoors studying…

      Thanks! Boo for studying!

  3. Lovin all of your choices, Naomi. And I have to admit I was wondering about the chandelier….

  4. Casey

Hi! I love your blog and your cottage. I’m wondering about your kitchen island. Why did you decide to have it facing so the stools are near your stove? It seems like it would make more sense to flip it 90 degrees and have the stools near the dining room or back door. Maybe it’s a space issue? Or maybe it’s a designery trick I don’t know of? Just wondering. It’s been fun to watch the cottage come together. Thanks for keeping us up to date!

Thanks Casey- spatially the island didn’t work the other way. I do most of my prep either on the non-stool side or on the counter next to the stove. But, I purposely got backless stools so that I could push them in and work on that side too, if I wanted.

I talk more about it in this post

Pretty amazing even with all the little tweaks that need to be made!

  9. Love seeing your cottage come together! The new light is awesome too. BTW, I thought you might be interested that I’m doing a couple of chairs in Pearl River (in the discontinued red colorway!). I came into a TON of it so give me a holler if you want any of it. :)
