Cottage Talk: Bathroom Part Deux

A lot has changed since I last shared my ideas for the bathroom.  The bathroom design process has been rushed, as my guys had an opening to do a little work and I wanted to take advantage of the labor.  It’s never a great idea to start construction before the design has been thoroughly planned out, but I’m breaking all the rules on my own job.  Figures.

I felt comfortable enough with the design to order fixtures, but have left the rest of the scheme fairly open.  A few choices have shifted the whole look.

The new scheme is looking a little more like this… but I bet you it will change some more!

1. Privacy shade in shower 2. Wall Color  3. Floor mosaics  4. Vanity Paint color  5. Bathroom Rug

The shift started when I picked up the black and white Carrara marble basketweave tile.  It was $11 at Lowes’s and I just couldn’t pass up the deal.  I love how the floor picks up the black in the rug!  I’m leaning toward doing the shower curtain black and white as well.

With the floor more graphic than I had planned, I knew I needed to drop the striped wall idea.  It was just too busy.  I will still get my light teal and dark teal contrast- the walls will be light and the vanity will be dark.

Also my mirror arrived and I really like it in its natural state.  I may keep it this way, or I may antique it just a bit.  We will see as the other elements come together!

Oh and I’ve been admiring Caitlin Wilson’s Peacock Scallop fabric and may try to use it in the bathroom somewhere.  A cute little shade in the shower?

What do you guys think of the changes in my design scheme?  See my last bathroom post with full sources here.

… and for all you north-east folks who are prepping for the hurricane like me, stay safe and stay dry!  Crossing fingers power stays on in Philly.  We will see how it goes.

  1. Love it Naomi! Especially the bathroom rug AND shower curtain. Adore!

I love the black and white basketweave tile!! It feels classic and modern at the same time to me– a throwback to the old square black and white bathroom tiles but with the fun basketweave pattern. I think all the changes will be fantastic! I can’t wait to see it all together!

  3. Love that tile! The mirror is gorgeous, too. Does Restoration Hardware have anything that isn’t amazing?? Be safe in Philly!
