A wall of shelves and art

Two of my favorite design elements would be a wall of shelves and a wall of art.  So why not combine them to create something really special.  Just loving this statement wall in the home of photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

And here’s a larger shot of their duplex featuring more floor to ceiling bookshelves and a Yves Klein coffee table.  OH to be a rich bohemian New Yorker!

I am serious love with their entire home!

  2. HA! it is a bit lodge-like.
I personally wouldn’t have chosen the rustic wood bookshelves, but it’s an interesting contrast to the floors and coffee table.

  3. Yeah baby! Cool pad .Now let’s all sing along to the Dandy Warhols :” Cause I like you,
    Yeah, I like you,
And I`m feelin so Bohemian like you,
    Yeah, I like you,
    Yeah, I like you,
    And I feel wahoo, wooo”
    Lol
    Have a great weekend!

  4. OB. SESSED. I’m all about big gallery walls, but the shelves just took it to a whole new level. Hm. Scheming how to incorporate into my own house! It’s truly unique!

  5. That space just looks so inviting…love the wall of shelves and art too!

  6. I’m happy to see that Sabra has already seen this, because this is SO her too! How very interesting to put art in the niches of bookshelves like that! A collage of sorts. But of course also loving the mix of clean white with ethnic textiles and wood. Yum!

Given Inez van Lamsweerde’s whole “look”, this place seems like a perfect extension of style. Very cool. And is that an orange tree I spy?

I personally DO like the contrast of the book shelves and the flooring. It really sets off some of the other colors you have used in your color palette. I think it is very pleasing to the eye and find it both interesting and also calming paired with the flooring color choice. I think you took a risk and it works for me.
