95%

So I know it’s been forever since I’ve shown any real progress on my loft.  Sorry about that.  I promise it’s not due to lack of effort.  I’ve been spray painting, sewing, upholstering, hanging stuff, zhushing and spray painting some more.  I feel so excited about where the space is, but I’m still only about 95% done.  I’ve scheduled a little photography shoot in exactly 13 days.  I’m hoping the deadline will give me the final oomph I need to wrap this loft up into a pretty little package.

Since we have a bit until the big reveal, I thought I’d show you just a few tidbits I’ve been working on.

Do  you remember the gold-leaf debacle of ’11?  Yea well I failed.  My bergere chairs looked like gold tinfoil disasters.  I opted to strip and give ‘em a nice spray job.  Much better.  Not perfect… but for a Craigslist score, I’m pretty happy.

I’ve been sewing.  A LOT.

I took a risk and sprayed my woody mirror teal.  Only it ended up turquoise.  Zoinks!  Me thinks I need a redo here.

… And that’s all I got.  It may be spotty ’round these parts this week, I’ve got a lot on the plate.  As always, thanks for stopping by.  You guys really toot my horn.

  1. You are multi-talented, and a DIY motivator for me always! I know, I feel the same, I haven’t shown anything in my house lately, in fact a friend of mine commented this weekend about that. Need to take some pics too.

I’m sooo excited to see your pics!!

  2. Erin

Dang I wish I could sew!

I think the mirror looks a-ok. Did you hold it up to the wallpaper and see how it relates?

Benny Moore can make you spray paint in any color if you have to go for a redo. For some reason I do feel like it needs more gloss…

  3. Zoinks !!!The road to success is paved with trials and tribulations..and you can only see if teal looks good if you just go for it and just do it !!! .As long as Bailey gets enough cuddles, it does not matter !!xx Bea

  4. Erika- so glad to be a motivator. You are for me too. Though I swear, I’m really NOT good at DIY’s. I just try sometimes anyway.

Erin- the paper is decidely more teal than the mirror. Thanks for the Ben Moore tip. Montana Gold’s options were either too blue or too green. Oh and it is pretty glossy… my iPhone just lies.

Cant wait to see some more !! That pillow is gorgeous !

  6. I’m thinking I need to give myself a deadline to finally “finish” with our apartment. Although it is never really finished, is it… So far the DIY’s look great. I actually don’t mind the wooden mirror color.. the way you photographed that painting in the reflection really compliments its new color!

Oooh, a forthcoming photo shoot? You tease!

Even though the take-away of this post is that you are super busy being super creative, I wanted to take it as an opportunity to remind you that we need to get together again. It’s been way too long.

  8. I SO wish I could sew. Love that pillow! I think the mirror looks cool although I know colors lie on the computer. And your chairs are looking good. Keep it up, girl! Can’t wait to see the big reveal. So exciting!

  9. Oh, this made me laugh, Naomi! I’ve scheduled a photo shoot at my house in 17 days … so I am doing exactly the same thing … trying to finish up those things that never seem to get finished!!! :-)

  10. Can’t wait to see the whole biz! I love the way the silk pillow turned out.

  11. can’t wait to feast my eyes on your pretty pictures.

I’m so jealous that your place is 95% done. I feel like our place is less and less done every time I look at it. Most of the time I don’t even know what’s going on.

And you can sew?!? You’d make my my proud.

  12. Well carry on with it! Keep on working your magic – it will be worth the wait – and something to look forward to!!!

  13. I love the word zoinks. Can’t wait until the big reveal..just so you know

  14. I cannot wait!!! That pillow is fab!! You have great taste my dear! It’s going to be so great I just know it!

  15. Zoinks! Not at all, Im inspired and impressed. The only DIY i’ve done lately is frame a poem! I need you to come to the CITY and help the sanford add some zhush to our loft!

  16. Love the chairs! They look great! I think the mirror could use another go around….but don’t feel bad! I made the mistake last week of choosing a color for my kitchen while on meds and it turned out day-glow orange….I’m still humiliated after that one. At least we can admit our mistakes! haha

There is no end to your talents, is there.

I think it’s all looking mighty fabulous. I can’t wait to see it all done up!

  18. I cannot *WAIT* to see it wrapped up in a pretty little package! And I’m positive that it will be worth the wait, I’ve never seen anything that you have worked on that wasn’t! (c: Don’t work too hard, girl, you don’t want to end up in a looney bin…unless it’s with cool people, then it’s okay (c:

  20. Keri

can you please post details on the fab chevron pillow fabric? Thanks!

  21. Hi Keri-
The chevron is a piece of silk ikat I bought at Material Culture in Philadelphia. It wasn’t wide enough to make an 18×18 pillow, so I lined it with a blue silk. Love the edge it creates.
